Friendly Competition, Big Community Impact
First State Food Drive Face Offs Bring Schools Together
A little friendly competition can make a big difference! This fall, First State Bank Nebraska brought local schools and communities together for three Food Drive Face Offs, turning school rivalries into opportunities to give back.
Held during local high school volleyball and football games, the Food Drive Face Offs challenged competing schools and their local First State branches to see who could collect the most donations for area food pantries. Each winning school also received a $250 donation from First State.
Together, the three events collected an impressive 2,581 food items and $2,322 in monetary donations, helping support families and individuals facing food insecurity across eastern Nebraska.
Conestoga vs. Yutan Volleyball
The competition tipped off at the Conestoga vs. Yutan volleyball game, where students, families and community members came together to support their schools' Backpack Programs. The event collected 323 food items and $1,295 in monetary donations, all benefiting the schools' Backpack Programs, which help provide food for students in need.
Yutan came out on top in the friendly competition, earning an additional $250 donation from First State.
Wilber vs. Tri-County Volleyball
The giving continued at the Wilber vs. Tri-County volleyball game, where the two communities stepped up to support local organizations fighting food insecurity. Together, they collected 505 food items and $409 in monetary donations to benefit the DeWitt Little Free Pantry, Saline County Aging Services and Beatrice Community Pantry.
Tri-County claimed the Food Drive Face Off victory, earning a $250 donation from First State.

Waverly vs. Norris Football
The final Food Drive Face Off of the year brought the competition to the football field as Waverly and Norris went head-to-head for a great cause.
The communities showed up in a big way, collecting an incredible 1,753 food items and $ in monetary donations for the Norris Area Food Pantry and Waverly Food Pantry.
Norris took home the win, along with a $250 donation from First State.
Showing Up for Our Communities
Across all three Food Drive Face Offs, First State's school and community partners demonstrated what can happen when neighbors come together for a shared purpose.
At First State, being a community bank means more than providing financial services. It means showing up, getting involved and supporting the people and organizations that make our communities stronger.
Thank you to the schools, students, families, First State team members and community members who helped make this year's Food Drive Face Offs a success. Your generosity proves that a little friendly competition can go a long way toward making a difference.
